Metallica

Es una banda de thrash metal originaria de Estados Unidos. Fue fundada en 1981 en Los Ángeles por el danés Lars Ulrich y James Hetfield, a los que se les unirían Lloyd Grant y Ron McGovney. Estos dos músicos fueron después sustituidos por el guitarrista Dave Mustaine y el bajista Cliff Burton, respectivamente. Mustaine fue despedido un año después de ingresar en la banda debido a su excesiva adicción a las drogas y al alcohol, y fundó la banda Megadeth, siendo sustituido en Metallica por Kirk Hammett. Por otra parte, en 1986, la muerte de Cliff Burton en un accidente de autobús en Suecia provocó la entrada al grupo de Jason Newsted, que, quince años más tarde, sería sustituido tras su deserción por el bajista actual de la banda, Robert Trujillo.
Hasta la fecha, la banda ha editado nueve discos de estudio y se encuentra en proceso de grabación de un décimo, cuya fecha de lanzamiento está programada para septiembre de 2008, tras numerosos retrasos en su proceso de grabación. Las ventas totales de Metallica superan los 90 millones, y son considerados uno de los cuatro grandes del thrash junto con Anthrax, Slayer y Megadeth. Además, la banda ha conseguido numerosos premios musicales, entre los que destacan siete Grammys, dos premios otorgados por la cadena musical MTV, dos galardones de la Academia de Música Americana y un premio de la revista Billboard. Además, Metallica posee una estrella en el paseo de la fama de la revista Kerrang!.

Death Magnetic

Es el noveno álbum de estudio de la banda de thrash metal Metallica, que salió a la venta el 12 de septiembre de 2008. Es el primer álbum de estudio de la banda con el bajista Robert Trujillo, y el primero también en ser producido por Rick Rubin. Death Magnetic es el primer disco del grupo en el que todos los miembros han contribuido en la composición de todas las canciones.

Todas las canciones del disco han sido escritas y compuestas por James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo, y Lars Ulrich, a diferencia de como hicieron con los álbumes Master Of Puppets, Black Album y ...And Justice For All. Según algunas informaciones del MetClub, Metallica grabó la fase final de las voces, guitarra rítmica y acabados de las canciones para mediados de enero de 2008. El guitarrista Kirk Hammett, afirma que Lars Ulrich ha grabado las baterías en los Estudios Sound City y comenta que el sonido es legendario, tal y como las baterías del Master Of Puppets.Tambien se planea volver a sus raíces e introducir un tema instrumental al estilo de "The Call Of Ktulu", "Orion" y "To Live Is To Die", además de tocar temas nuevos en sus siguientes conciertos, su tema instrumental sera "Suicide & Redemption".
